The project assessed earthquake risks to the Betano refinery project in Timor-Leste to guide structural design of the refinery plant and related facilities. Key activities included modeling of earthquake sources; identification of models that reasonably represent attenuation characteristics of earthquake ground motions in the area; hazard evaluation; and production of probabilistic seismic hazard maps.
RIMES assisted WMO in implementing the Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS) in South Asia. Key activities included: the establishment of user interface platforms in Afghanistan and Bhutan; improving user participation in SASCOFs; training on climate information translation and application; engagement with users at national and field levels; advocacy for sustained support to climate services.
