The project aimed to assess the potential exposure of local communities to the effects of projected 2017 El Nino, to form basis for planning of immediate mitigation and response preparedness actions. Key activities included: modeling of possible scenarios for 2017 El Nino, and assessment of likely associated biophysical impacts, limpacted population and geographical distribution, and sectoral impacts; monitoring of 2017 El Nino development, and updating of impact scenario; capacity building of the National Weather Service on El Nino-associated risk assessments.
