- Master’s degree in meteorology, bachelor’s in physics, geography, or environmental management
- 2.5 years of relevant experience
- Efficient in Linux operating system, at least one programming language, numerical weather prediction models, strong organizational skills; excellent English proficiency in communication, presentation, and report writing; demonstrated research skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills; team-oriented work style; pleasant personality; strong desire to learn and undertake new challenges; a creative problem-solver; willingness to work hard; interest and experience in working in a multicultural environment

- Support in operating/customizing/calibrating/automating numerical weather prediction models, processing and analyzing meteorological data.
- Uptake research and capacity building activities, provide technical support/summary in model development, generate value added information on top of meteorological products application development
- Provide assistance national hydromet service providers and coordinate with stakeholders of national down to local levels to facilitate implementation of project activities
- Analyze data and gather information required to support tool development, risk and user need assessments
- Assist in assessments, meetings, training workshops, forums, conferences, and related preparatory events
- Assist in processing for activity budget; record and report expenditures against budget, with proper support documentation, at completion of project activity
- Undertake field visits to monitor implementation of activities as required, as well as receive local level feedback
- Assist installation of equipment such as automatic weather stations
- Assist in the facilitation and management of field visits by donors and partners
- Assist in the documentation and dissemination of best practices and lessons learnt
- Assist in identifying constraints and problems in efficient project delivery, and suggest corrective actions
- Support in gathering data and information on progress of implementation against project targets and performance indicators
- Assist in impact assessment studies
- Support BMD/FFWC in areas of need, as assigned by immediate supervisors
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by immediate supervisors
- Monthly progress reports on assigned tasks
- Project deliverables according to timeline agreed with immediate supervisors
