The project aims to establish Monsoon Forums to enhance utility of seasonal climate forecasts, and to identify, through a participatory process, climate change issues affecting agriculture, food security, and livelihoods in Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Myanmar. Key activities include landscaping of institutions and their decision and policy frameworks; identification of opportunities for climate risk management; technical assistance to NMHSs in convening monsoon forums; and stakeholder consultations to present study outcomes, take stock of ongoing and planned initiatives, identify and agree on key issues, and set initial directions for further work.

Establishment of a network of 4 real-time seismic stations in Myanmar, Philippines, and Vietnam

The project aims to establish 4 real-time sea-level stations in Myanmar (1), the Philippines (1), and Vietnam (2) for monitoring earthquakes, for tsunami early warnings. Key activities include site survey to determine location appropriate for tsunami warning, design and construction of seismic vaults, equipment acquisition, and on-site installation, telemetry, and reliability testing.
